NORTHERN NIGHTS MUSIC FESTIVAL

About This Project

In July 2015 I was asked to join the Northern Nights production team as a Marketing Assistant. I proved my abilities in both Marketing and Design, and was able to make such an impact during my one month assignment that I was asked back for the entire festival season of 2016 as their official Marketing and Social Media Manger. In this role I worked with the event producers to define the overall Marketing strategy and brought on an intern halfway through who I coached throughout the process on Social Media copywriting, posting and scheduling. The marketing and promotional efforts I led resulted in sold out events for both 2015 and 2016 festival years.

INSTAGRAM CONTESTS

Below are a few examples of Instagram contests I crafted to stir up excitement and engagement leading up to and during event dates. I led the strategy, design, execution and management of all social contest elements shown below. I also developed a system using IFTT to compile submissions in a live google sheet to ensure all criteria were met before a winner was chosen. The #ShareTheAdventure contest was even printed in the 2016 festival booklet which was given as a physical copy to all ticket holders.

SNAPCHAT GEO FILTERS

I proposed the concept of an AR lens to senior event leadership team, and was approved for event's first ever filters.

Managed project and oversaw marketing and design team from idea to execution.

Between January 2016 – July 2017, I created 11 blog posts for Northern Nights. For each of these posts, I wrote the copy, curated the images, created the call to action buttons, and designed the page layout itself.

EMAIL NEWSLETTERS

TEMPLATES

I designed the Northern Nights Mailchimp email newsletter template for both the 2015 & 2016 festival season based on brand color and style guidelines for that year.

I sent about 2 email newsletters a month leading up to the 2016 event. For each newsletter I wrote the copy, designed the layout and curated any included media. Below is a small sample in chronological order.

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

 

Part of my role was also shooting live content to post on festival social platforms during the event and creating a hub of content for posting throughout the next year. As one of the Media Team leads, I created a list of all the key features, areas, events, sponsors, and moments around the festival that would play an important role in the following year's social media promotion. This list was shared with all event photographers and press contacts as a guide to help highlight all the things that make Northern Nights special.

PRESS

In the gallery below is a sample of some of my favorite shots I took throughout the event, some of which were utilized for and shared in press articles, as seen below. Mixmag's article featured a gallery consisting of 17 photos solely shot by me, whereas Fest300 featured my photo for the front of their gallery, which included my shots among those of more seasoned and well known event photographers.
